Celestron 44300 Windows 7 Driver

Digital Microscope unable to connect to software. Running Windows Vista Home Premium, fully updated, no apparent problems except for the microscope. It is a Celestron 44302 and plugs into a USB port. I installed everything according to directions. The microscope was instantly recognized and correct driver installed. The software installation went fine.

The software can detect when the scope is plugged in and when it itsn't. When it is plugged in, I get a message saying 'Connecting to digital microscope'but nothing ever happens. I know the USB ports are fine because they are used for many other devices (cameras, ipods, gps, phones) that function as expected.

I have uninstalled software and driver. Have reinstalled from the CD and from the manufacturer'swebsite. Tried two different webcam softwares - ManyCam also recognizes the microscope but says that 'it may already be in use by another application, please stop the other application'. This happens even after a reboot where nothing else is open or running. The manufacturer just shipped me another microscope (with same results) but provides no support. This is supposed to be plug and play with XP, Vista, and Windows 7. How do I find out what is wrong or what else is tying up the microscope? Where do you lookto find out what applications are using what devices or vice versa?

I have tried starting the software before plugging in the scope and after. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Iowacat,Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.Sorry to know that you are facing an issue to Digital Microscope. It would be helpful if you could reply to these questions to assist you further.1. Does the microscope get detected and working fine when you use it on a different Windows Vista computer?2. What do you mean when you say “ This happens even after a reboot where nothing else is open or running”? Have you disabled any startup items or third party services?Let’s try the following steps and check if it helps.Method 1:a.

Click the Start button, type Device Manager in Start search and PressEnter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.b.

In device manager check for the device. Right click on the device and clickProperties.c. On the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then clickUninstall.d. Restart your computer.e. Hi, Thanks for posting some possible solutions.

I had already done Methods 1 and Methods 2 but I repeated them and still have the same problem - ManyCam displays a message that reads 'ManyCam can't connect for some reason. Please check to see if it iscurrently in use by another application and exit that application. So, I tried Method 3. Thank you for the KB article reference because I had no idea how to do a clean boot. I followed all the directions - I got the same result after trying all the possibilities for disabling startup services.

I did notice that I amapparently unable to stop the following items though: Acer ePerformance Service, Adobe Acrobat Update Service, APC UPS Service, AVG IDS Agent, and AVG WatchDog.So now, more questions:Should I uninstall AVG? Is it something that would even interfere with USB devices? Also, when it came to the last step for clean boot that involved stopping Microsoft services, I was not comfortable doing that without more information. Would I be able to stop anything in this step that was critical to using the computer or would makeit not restart?I was able to follow the clean boot directions without problem, even got it back to normal startup when I was done. I just didn't know what would happen if I start messing with microsoft services.
